What to expect

Your first appointment focuses on understanding your symptoms, treatment history, current and previous medications, medical history and goals.

Your provider will discuss treatment options with you and, when medication is appropriate, develop an individualized plan.

Follow-up appointments are used to monitor progress, effectiveness and side effects and to make adjustments when clinically appropriate.

What can medication management help with?

Medication and psychotherapy can each play a role in mental health treatment. Some people benefit from medication alone, while others find that combining medication with therapy provides additional support.

When appropriate and with your permission, your medication provider can coordinate care with your therapist, physician or other members of your healthcare team.
